Construction commenced October 2012.Construction of 2 No. temporary accommodation units within the grounds of Glenstal Abbey for the purposes of prayer and retreat by visitors. The units, which are ancillary to the main use of the Abbey, are each 26m sq in area and comprise a one storey natural timber clad structure on stub columns.

The first of two hermitage-style accommodation units modelled on ancient monastic beehive huts were constructed to nestle into the oak trees straddling the ecotone where forest and meadow overlap and have recently been completed in Glenstal Abbey, Co. Limerick. The eco-friendly units were designed by Solearth Ecological Architecture and include solar panels, water collection and biomass heating.
